Writing a Biography As a College Essay

Writing a Biography As a College EssayHow to write a biography as a college essay is a question many of us need to ask ourselves each year before turning in our required academic assignments. As students, we are usually asked to take a level in our field and then write about that topic for a very long time before finally presenting the issues of the class to our instructors. It's easy to get caught up in the monotony of the topic, or to look at it from the outside in. For example, when I was going to school, I was writing a biographical essay on a history professor who was a personal hero of mine. He was a major source of inspiration for me and so, I spent quite a bit of time thinking about the person and writing an outline. As I worked on this topic, I began to come up with some interesting ideas about him, but I couldn't decide how to illustrate these things, so I had to begin my essay by writing about general impressions I had of him. It was the worst way to go about doing this, and I began to realize that I needed to come up with a method for writing a biography as a college essay that would give me all the power. After a while, I realized that I just had to come up with a different style of writing in order to force myself to do something new. In fact, once I learned to do this, I knew that I could come up with an outline without being forced to think in the same manner as my professor. This was the first step toward writing a biography as a college essay. The hard part is trying to determine what should be included in the outline. Obviously, if you're going to discuss the professor, you're going to have to start your biographical writings by talking about his personality. But what about if you're not talking about a professor?Perhaps you've met him once or twice, and he has been associated with the things you love in your everyday life. In this case, a biography as a college essay might begin by describing things you know about the man, and how he has affecte d you personally. In fact, the very next paragraph of your draft should be devoted to describing your admiration for his academic projects. Make sure you use the whole piece, and don't leave out any detail - you'll want to make sure your classmates and your teacher are able to get the most out of your college essay. There are plenty of ways to start a biography as a college essay. Just find a style that suits you, and then stick with it!
